The Icebreaker

When I read tht blog frm this fella on his TM exp

and more than tht after getting an exhilarating reply to my query to toastmasters,

I had this feeling in my bones that its gonna be good fun !

Well, it meant to miss the firstshow of the new movie at vaibhav with the crazy off gang.

ahh i love to be the 1st to update the folks and 1st to have it on my status msg;)

But, after walking in to room 215 of St josephs college of commerce was an altogether diff exp...

U wud b rolling in the aisles with entertaining speeches there ! and jokes by TM Rajdeep Manwani.

So VPE decided 22nd Jan was an auspicious day for my Icebreaker.

TM Sumitra Manmohan made my scribbles into a Speech !

She also told me a few expression I should bring in to make the speech interesting

but all tht I cud do up there was::

give a stupid smile and say "Oh shit".. So all these ppl are looking at me and I am looking at them and damn that next line ... ! "Shit" was the easiest obvious wrd !!

GE said u cud say "Oh my God" u knw instead of shit .. and i thought i ll take this advice home

so over the weekend while playing sum stupid comp game, Arish says " Shit man "

and i thought this is the time i can literally take GEs advice home..

So, I told " Arish say oh my god .. dont say shit"

To that he said he learnt it from me and can no way unlearn it .. so fr the rest of the even heard a lot of Shit yaar.. shit man .. oh shit.. aarrghhh shit..

lets get out of this shit and move on to my icebreaker !

I am glad Riti could make it in time and gautam couldnt hahahaha!!

wish i could quickly add something fr her in the speech :(

but nw i can thnks grl!!

I was like pretty early for the meeting in a new kurta ! stood on the lecturn and practised,

practised outside with Tm Sumitra but "oh my God" I forgot twice.

enjoy.................................

Way back in Lucknow in the year 1989, A kinder garden student, after her day 2 at school was not dropped off by the bus conductor, because there was no one to pick her up. Her elder brother was standing a little away from the bus waiting for his little sister .He came back home crying to his mom .the worried mom called up his dad. They rushed to the school bus depo Only to find this girl merrily chatting away with the bus conductor, sharing his food, showing him off her new bag... and her new books... her new lunch box. She was complaining to him had he let her go home she would have a new water bottle that her dad said he would get her!!

Mr Toastmaster, fellow Toastmasters and dear guests, Good Evening.

That little chatter box, is today struggling to give her Ice breaker!!

Friends, in a joint family When I would spill something or scribble on the walls there would be 10 pairs of threatening eyes staring at me.

But my childhood was also made up with the love care and warmth of my grandfather – a gold medalist in Sanskrit Retired from Secretariat. He is my inspiration. The simplicity and grace on his face, the warmth and care in his conversations, his strictness in my studies and the time we come back home are things I can never forget.

My Grand mother, my Mom and aunt being teachers, discipline was inevitable. They would rather prefer to send me to school without my homework complete but won’t let my extremely loving father help me do it 10 min before the bell rings...

I studied at Mount Carmel, Lucknow till higher secondary. My dreams kept changing while at school. In 6th I wanted to be a designer. 7th was a VJ!! 8th was more serious- a merchant navy officer! While at school I constantly won the painting and collage competition both at school and at inter school events. I was my house captain in class 10th.

By then my brother was buried under medical books each over 5kgs and all in fine print!! That helped me decide what I don’t want to be... no Bio!! The day I got all my engineering results I was sitting with a map of India marking distances of all the colleges I could join and Manipal won this race it was 2029 kms away from Lucknow. Away from home! 2 months I drove my father crazy to get me an admission there!!

And September of 2003, I was there! With My father mother mama maani uncle aunty from Bangalore all went to drop me to Manipal! Yes that happens when any kid from the joint family goes out of home for the first time!

I am a Computer Science Graduate from MIT ;) we love not to expand that!

Manipal is a small place.. in a month u would know every face… U seem to be friends with every person in the world. Four years of hostel life went enjoying with friends, their breakups, trips with a big group of friends to Goa, Kerala and nearby places. The yummy maggi in library canteen at 11 in the night , roaming on beaches around Manipal, college festivals, night outs, mass bunks, the nasty birthday celebrations in hostel are things that bring back that wicked grin on my face.

I Made the best of my friends there. 4years seemed fugacious and 2006 we were all bribing god to get us thru an internship project and a job!! God did fall for that!! I was lucky to get thru internship from Honeywell Technologies. I was among the 3 people selected from my college for the India software labs division, by IBM. Still enjoying the bribe to God…

The one person who inspired me the most was my uncle Guudu Chacha! Its to him I owe whoever I am today! He guided me, and also misguided me.He was more of a friend than an uncle! Unfortunately we lost him to a heart att

In Bangalore my weekend schedules have Dance classes! Crazily Watching seasons over season of friends scrubs 24 and other TV series, Traveling and Spending time with my now 6 year old bro Arish, my favourite uncle’s son! In fact my Friday evenings would start with going for the new movie released that friday. But now its at toastmasters. I look forward to have an inspiring journey with eminent speakers like u

Friends I would like to share with u what my grandfather told us on his 50th anniversary! When asked his key to success he said Children you should practice

“Sabke liye udarta par apne liye khatorta” !!

Turn a blindeye to what other people do,

But keep an eagle’s eye on what you do!

And That’s what keeps me going !

Mr. Toastmaster!!!!!!

Ahhhhh Heavy huhn !!

though evryone praised that even. but I know there was a lot i goofed up ;)

they all wanted to boost up the confidence in me :) and it sure did .

Bidding adios to Mr toastmaster we moved our confident souls to the friday nt party @ hint !!

Wondering about my new kurta, the indian formal look ..

gave it away to the central trial room ;)

We had already hidden the party attire and the big sea shell earings in the car ho ho ho smarties!!

Was a fun even!!

Hope u guys had fun reading ..

Adios!!
